The Big Chill is our largest annual fundraiser, and it's always a good time! Each July, we celebrate National Ice Cream Day with an afternoon full of homemade ice cream, live music, food trucks, family fun, and community.
Every year, incredible community organizations and faith groups get creative with their favorite homemade ice cream recipes, all competing for the coveted People's Choice Award. Ice cream teams dole out samples throughout the event and receive votes at their booths and via online giving. The other really "cool" part of The Big Chill is our Cold Callers. These brave volunteers take a seat on a block of ice for 30-minute shifts while calling on friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors to ask them to support The Shalom Project.This year's event was Saturday, July 18 at Knollwood Baptist Church, and was a HUGE success. We raised over $75,000 with the help of our Cold Callers, ice cream makers, donors, and generous corporate sponsors.
